One of the most important of these was the loss of humanity.
In a lot of ways, Faiz took some of the other ideas of the series and brought them back in new ways that made them fresh again. My favorite of all of the Heisei Phase 1 shows was Kamen Rider 555 (Faiz). I think this is because as time has worn on, things and audiences change (as does marketing) so new approaches are required. That’s not a knock against the newer shows, I quite like a few of them ( Kamen Rider W and Kamen Rider Fourze for example). In my opinion, the Phase 1 shows were much more “Kamen Rider” in feel than what has come more recently. Askbox Replies Kamen Rider Kamen Rider W Kamen Rider Kuuga Kamen Rider ZO Kamen Rider Black Lots more action and a less muted color palette.Īs for my thoughts on OOOs, I am working on another ask that wanted to know about that as well. These might be more to your taste if you found Amazons slow.
It’s has some fantastic art direction and suit designs plus has great action!
I liked it but I like slow burns and character-driven pieces.įor the record though, if you want solid recommendations of where to start here is a short list:ġ) Kamen Rider W (see my earlier post for why)Ģ) Kamen Rider Kuuga- The first of the modern series and a really good place to start.ģ) Kamen Rider ZO- this is a stand alone movie and one of the earliest things I saw. It’s very much a slow burn and doesn’t have a ton of action until later. It’s not really a typical series, designed more along the lines of a drama or horror with the same kind of pacing. Kamen Rider Amazons is not a great place to start. Nor would I recommend the series that preceded it, Kamen Rider Ghost was interesting but a bit lackluster. I don’t know if I would actually recommend the current series, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid as a first, it’s so wildly different from any Rider series before it. A lot of folks start with whatever show is on the air when they get interested. I have friends who started with Kamen Rider Kiva or Kamen Rider W. If you can get your hands on that one, it’s a pretty good place to start. The first series I ever watched from start to finish (with translations) was 1987′s Kamen Rider Black.
For example, the first series I ever saw was Kamen Rider Kuuga but I didn’t really follow it (it was airing at the time and I could only watch it raw). Almost any series can be someone’s first. Thanks for the question! Kamen Rider is kind of a strange franchise. Thanks for the Question! Askbox Replies Kamen Rider OP Kamen Rider Kamen Rider Kuuga Kamen Rider Decade Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Kamen Rider Build Kamen Rider Zi-O Though he is just as likely to erase his evil future self from existence as become him so it is a double edged sword. However, I would venture to say that Kamen Rider Zi-O has the potential to outdo them all as his very existence can re-write history, potentially erasing any and all of the above from existence.Įspecially if he ever actually becomes the Demon King Zi-O. So the power escalation gets pretty bad at times. Or Kamen Rider Evol from Kamen Rider Build who exists to destroy worlds and can create black holes, that’s about as powerful as you can get. Of course, then there is Kamen Rider Kronos from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid who could stop time and kill people when they were incapable of action, that’s pretty OP in its own way. However, since then we have had Kamen Rider Decade, who could transform into and copy the abilities of other Riders, including Kuuga. I would be tempted to say Kamen Rider Kuuga because he had a kick that could destroy the entire world when he was in his Ultimate Form.
